Do you need to brush up your English before a job interview or a trip?
Is the idea of speaking in a group class too stressful?
Do you need help in preparing for an important exam in English?
Would you like to get ongoing support with your particular English goals?
Would you like to study English together with a friend, or in a small group of co-workers?
A one-to-one or two-to-one class can be a great choice if you are on a deadline or have a particular idea of what you'd like to work on in class. Get in touch so we can discuss how I can support you!
The first thing you'll need to do is book a free Zoom meeting with me.
Before the meeting, make sure you think about these questions:
Why do you want to study English -- and what are some of the things you'd like to learn?
How many meetings would you like to have with me?
Do you have any questions you would like to ask me about my lessons, or my advice for learning English?
When are you available to meet online?
During the meeting, we will chat about your English goals and discuss what we could work on. After the meeting, I will send you my notes, instructions about how to book and pay, and ask you to let me know your decision about working together.
Have a look at this calendar to see when I might be able to meet you for one-to-one lessons.
My availability may change week by week, so if you're interested in a particular day and time, please contact me to make sure I can make it. And if none of those dates work for you, you can still get in touch with another suggestion -- it might be possible, and it never hurts to ask! However, do be aware that I don't normally have many evening times available.
If you don't find an answer to your question below, get in touch with me at julia@wordsmithforge.org, or sign up for a free Zoom consultation.
A one-to-one 60-minute session costs 130 PLN. A 90-minute session costs 185 PLN.
For classes in pairs, the price is 100 PLN per person for 60-minutes, or 145 PLN for 90 minutes.
For classes in small groups, the price will vary depending on group size and the topic of the course. Get in touch with me to find out more.
Once we have agreed on the details for our class, you will be able to book and pay through the online system Fitssey. All you'll need to do is open a free account using your name and email address, and you'll be able to pay through BLIK or online transfer.
After we have agreed on the specifics of the class, I will ask you to log into the online booking system Fitssey. Here, you will be able to see my calendar and reschedule classes if you can't make our usual time. You can also cancel classes you can't make, but please do try to reschedule rather than cancel if possible: long breaks between classes are not great for your progress.
It is possible to reschedule or cancel a one-to-one lesson up until 10 hours before the scheduled class time. If you cancel later than this, you will not get your money back for the class.
After we have discussed what your goals are and how long you'd like to study for, I will let you know if you need to buy a book. If we work together short-term, I will probably provide you will all the materials you need. If we work with each other long-term, I may ask you to buy a particular book that will support our learning, even though I will still share my own materials with you, too.
All of our classes will take place on Zoom. After we have decided to work together, I will send you a link to our Zoom room. You will also need to download the Zoom app onto your computer, and make sure you have a working camera and microphone.
I teach all levels from time to time, but most of my students are between the levels of B1 and C2.
Here are some of the things I can help you with:
getting ready to start working in English,
getting ready to start studying in English,
preparing to give a presentation or attend a conference in English,
dusting off your English after a long break,
preparing for the Cambridge B2 or Cambridge C1 exam,
preparing for the Bilingual Matura.
We may use a variety of methods in class to help you learn, depending on what your goals and needs are.
Here are some of the things I try to do with most of my students:
A lot of speaking: most people struggle with this most of all!
Learning grammar through examples and feedback: I would like to show you that it takes time to learn any new grammar, and it's completely normal to make mistakes. I will point them out and try to explain the logic behind what would be better to say.
Focus on common phrases: if you feel that you don't always sound very natural when you speak, that may be because you don't know which words sound best together. I try to show you new vocabulary in context and help you remember whole phrases and expressions rather than single words.
Authentic texts and videos: these introduce interesting topics for us to discuss, and give us some real language we can look at, analyse and try to copy.
A comfortable atmosphere: whatever your level in English, it is completely natural to forget words and make the same mistakes over and over again... until you don't anymore. I would like our classes to be an opportunity for you to relax, have an interesting conversation and come away inspired, not stressed ;)
If you'd like to work with me one-to-one, or create a small group with friends or co-workers, please schedule a free online call with me first. We can discuss your needs and decide how we'd like to work together.
