My name is Julia Lewandowska, and I've been teaching English ever since I wrote my first English coursebook for my grandmother. I was 9 at the time and a very bad teacher: I didn't manage to teach my grandma anything except the colours.
Since then, I have taught English to adults, teens and children in Poland, France and Italy, both on online and in-person courses... but I never did manage to teach my grandma properly!
When I was 19, I passed the Cambridge C2 exam in English (also called Cambridge Proficiency, or CPE). If you're curious to find out how I prepared, you can read about it here. Thanks to this exam, I was able to teach English in Paris during my gap year, and then to apply to university in the UK.
I now think Cambridge exams can be great motivators to really push yourself with your English, and I enjoy helping students prepare for them. If you think it might be a good idea for you, book a call to ask me about it.
I studied at the University of York. My degree in Film and TV Production actually had nothing to do with teaching... so in my third year, I also did an extra TESOL qualification for English teachers and trained my skills teaching Maths to English-speaking primary school children. I also managed to get a bit of work experience in the TV industry before COVID hit and everything shut down!
My time at university taught me a lot about academic language and writing in English: ask me and I'll be happy to chat about it.
Today, I live in Warsaw and focus on helping intermediate and advanced-level adults and young adults master their English skills for work, study and self-development.
When I'm not in class, I enjoy designing learning materials, creative writing, reading fiction, and sitting around in coffee shops. If you know any good ones to recommend, please give me a shout!

I work with select students on a one-to-one basis, or in pairs or groups of three if you'd like to study with friends. I can help you prepare for a job interview, a holiday abroad, a Cambridge or IELTS exam in English, or Matura Dwujęzyczna. Explore more below, or get in touch with me to ask about availability.
If you're already a student, you can use your Fitssey details to log in below, sign up and pay for classes.
If you haven't worked with me before, please book a free Zoom call first or drop me an email saying you'd like to join a class. I will send you instructions on how to sign up and pay!

A smith is a person who works with metal. You would visit a smith if you wanted a sword made, or a shield, or a metal tool. The profession also gave its name to the most common English surname: Smith.
A smith works with metal, but a wordsmith works with words. If you have a large vocabulary and can use words beautifully, or if you are a fantastic writer, you are a wordsmith!
A smith uses a forge in order to heat up metal so that it can be shaped. As a verb, to forge also means to make something out of metal like a smith does, or to produce something that was difficult to make: for example, two countries can forge a good diplomatic relationship.
At Wordsmith Forge, our goal is to forge YOU into a wordsmith, of course -- and give you the skills not merely to use English, but to use it confidently, precisely and elegantly.
